Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)

1/4 cup onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)

4 burger buns (your choice—whole grain, brioche, etc.)

Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, fresh lettuce, and tzatziki sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed, ensuring that the spinach and feta are well distributed.

Make the Mixture: Add the ground turkey and egg to the bowl containing the spinach and feta mix. Using your hands, gently combine the ingredients until just mixed. Avoid overmixing as this will make the patties tough.

Shape the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty approximately 1 inch thick. To help the patties cook evenly and avoid puffing, create a small indentation in the center of each one.

Preheat the Grill: Heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat to ensure even cooking. Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to minimize sticking.

Cook the Burgers: Once the grill is ready, place the turkey patties on it. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side until a nice brown crust forms. Carefully flip the patties and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes. Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Toast the Buns (optional): If desired, you can toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Assemble the Burgers: On each burger bun, place the grilled turkey patty on the bottom half. Layer on fresh toppings of your choice, such as lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and cucumbers, and add a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce if you like. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve your Spinach and Feta Delight Turkey Burgers immediately while they're hot, paired with a side of sweet potato fries or a light green salad for a complete meal.
